Imagine if a child in America were allowed to roam the streets without any adult guidance. Imagine if this child had no parents to love him and no way to purchase food, clothing or a place to sleep. Imagine if every day this child had to live by his wits to fend off danger because he had no protector. And imagine if this child had to scrabble about searching for scraps because there was simply no food available.
Look at his dirty, torn clothes and bare feet. Look at his discolored hair from malnutrition. See how ill he is. Now look that child in the eyes. What do you see? Loneliness? Fear? Deep sadness masked by a fierce determination to survive?
If that thought horrifies you, then you are not alone. It horrifies us as well. We saw all of these things on our trips to Kenya over the past few years. The scourge of AIDS has ravaged this beautiful country, killing its adults and robbing its children of hope. It's not that the surviving people of Africa don't care. Indeed, many of the Christians there are doing all they can to help. But with limited resources, lingering drought and severe unemployment, there is often no other choice but to watch helplessly while the children of AIDS are left to figure out how to get through each day on their own. It literally breaks our hearts and we know it breaks the heart of God.
Springs of Hope is a project born from a genuine desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a place where hope has been all but extinguished. We don't have all the answers but we know Someone who does. His name is Jesus, and we believe that together with His help we can bring relief and peace into the hearts of children who have been forced to take on very adult roles way before their time. There is a precious body of believers there, All Nations Springs of Life Church led by Pastor Jotham Opicho, that is working tirelessly to meet all the needs it can. Their sacrificial love and devotion have been inspirational to us. We want to join with this Christ-centered fellowship, adopt their culture, and share friendship and resources in an effort to help alleviate pain, homelessness and suffering.

Of course we are just one small family. We can't do it alone. But you can bring Springs of Hope to a child as well, right from where you are. Find out how you can shine your heart's love into the life of a child. It takes so little to make a big difference! Thank you for visiting our website. God bless you.
